A little about our story and how we got here...

************************************************Sandra Kaiser - Growing up in the floral business starting her first job at the age of 12 at Astra Florists, Sandra has always had a passion for flowers and a deep appreciation for all living things. Sandra's love affair with flowers has blossomed over the years as she has worked in all aspects of the floral business. Sandra had the good fortune to be able to nurture and grow her knowledge of flowers and her flair for design under the careful guidance of the several designers who passed through Astra Florists over the years. A lifelong learner, Sandra is always on the lookout for new trends and styles and learns how to incorporate them into her own designs. Sandra is a member of Flowers Canada and the Canadian Academy of Floral Artists. Sandra's down to earth demeanor and years of practical experience give her the gift of truly listening to and understanding what customers want. *********************************************** Susan Sottile:
"Flowers are meant to convey so many things… my mission is to make sure they make the statement the client wants to express… I take those worries away." Susan found her calling early and has enjoyed a successful career and this year is celebrating her 50th year in the floral industry . An unforgettable career highlight for her was the opportunity to design and create a bouquet which was presented to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Susan's creativity and immaculate attention to detail are heightened by over twenty-five years of experience with Ikebana, a Japanese art of floral arranging in which nature and humanity are brought together. Ikebana often emphasizes areas of the plant other than the blooms including such parts as the stems and leaves; it draws emphasis toward shape, line and form. She has also taught classes and given demonstrations at the Japanese Cultural Center in Toronto. Susan is also a member of Flowers Canada.

About Astra Florists at Terrain

Astra Florists is a small and vibrant flower boutique located on Dufferin Street, between Lawrence Avenue and Eglinton, in Toronto Ontario (in a shared floral studio with Terrain Flowers). Established in 1947, Astra Florists is well known within the area for providing exceptional service and a fabulous line up of floral arrangements for your everyday floral needs through every season and all holiday, plus weddings and events.

Sandra and Susan have been with Astra for over 25 years. During this time they have developed close relationships with their diverse client base. Their love of the business over the many years is for the beauty of the flowers as well as the gift and sentiments that are shared with the recipients.

Astra produces their wonderful arrangements all by hand, in-house. With mutual respect and passion, their final products are a collaborative expression of the team based in their thorough understanding of the industry and their client's preferences, thus complementing the occasion and always exceeding expectations.

Many of corporate clients participate in fund raising and we love to help them, such as: GILDAS CLUB OF TORONTO, SERVE STOCK, TORONTO HYUNDAI, TEMPLE SINAI, BETH SHALOM, ST HILDA'S SICK KIDS, and MANPOWER OF CANADA. Astra is very proud of winning the The York Guardian's Reader's Choice Silver Award for Best Florist. Customers who know Astra count on them for delivering arrangements that leave a lasting impression. We know you will too.
